Robbie Savage believes he will be out for two weeks after suffering a recurrence of an old thigh injury in Blackburn's 3-0 UEFA Cup victory against Basle last night.
The Welsh international midfielder was substituted towards the end of the first half, after aggravating the same injury that had kept him out of last week's 2-0 Carling Cup defeat against Chelsea.
Savage picked up the initial injury during Rovers' 1-0 defeat to Bolton late last month.
'It is the same problem that forced me off against Bolton,' Savage told Rovers Radio. 'I felt great in training the last few days but there's nothing like a game.
'As soon as I planted my foot I just felt it go again. It was a sharp pain, like a knife going in my thigh.
'I suppose in the past I've been lucky with injuries but maybe it is my turn.'
Blackburn are away to Aston Villa on Sunday, who are looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the season last Saturday against Liverpool.
