Tottenham striker Mido taunts Sol

Tottenham striker Mido has branded Sol Campbell 'the easiest defender I have ever played against' ahead of Sunday's clash with Portsmouth.

The controversial frontman's comments, made to the Evening Standard, are likely to endear him to the White Hart Lane fans who have never forgiven Campbell for his move to arch rivals Arsenal back in July 2001.

However, given Spurs failure to score in their last 433 minutes of Premiership football, and Portsmouth's miserly start to the season, which has seen them only concede two goals, Mido's comments could come back to haunt him.

Spurs defeated Slavia Prague 2-0 on aggregate, after a Robbie Keane goal on Thursday night added to their away leg total, taking them through to the group stages of the UEFA Cup.

But they have failed to score in the Premiership since defeating Sheffield United 2-0 in August.

The Egyptian international said: 'I tried to score against Slavia Prague and I am very disappointed to miss such a good chance. But I have so much confidence in myself and I don't have any doubts.

'I came back to Tottenham because I know I can score goals.

'Portsmouth have Sol Campbell at the back and he is the easiest defender I have ever played against.

'I'm not scared of him.'

Mido joined Spurs for £3.5million from Roma this summer, after spending the previous 18 months on loan at Spurs.

In last October's London derby, Mido's robust style caused the then Arsenal defender problems.
