Spanish FA to investigate racist chants at Celta game

MADRID, Sept 27 (Reuters) - The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has agreed to open an investigation into racist chants from the crowd at last month's Primera Liga match between Celta Vigo and Barcelona, an RFEF spokesman said on Wednesday.

Although nothing was mentioned in the referee's report on August 28, a request to look into the matter has been made by the government-run Anti-violence commission.

The Spanish government has committed itself to taking a hard line on such issues, after a rise in incidents of racist abuse of players at football matches in recent seasons.
