Championship: Leeds bounce back against Birmingham

Birmingham missed the chance to go clear at the top of the Championship as they were beaten by a late own goal from Olivier Tebily in a heated clash against Leeds at Elland Road.

Northern Ireland striker David Healy struck a first-half double either side of Tony Warner's own goal to give the hosts, under the guidance of caretaker boss John Carver, a 2-1 lead at the break.

Geoff Horsfield had a goal disallowed just before Nicklas Bendtner levelled matters with 16 minutes to go, although Blues were down to 10 men after the dismissal of Damien Johnson for violent conduct.

Tebily headed into his own goal with five minutes left.

It means Blues stay level on points with joint-leaders Cardiff, who play Southend tomorrow.

Roy Keane suffered his first defeat as manager of Sunderland, his side getting beaten 3-1 by Ipswich at Portman Road.

The Black Cats had taken the lead through Jason De Vos' own goal but Darren Currie and a brace from Alan Lee gave the hosts three points.

Burnley could have gone level with the top two on 17 points but lost 3-2 at home to Southampton.

Steve Jones gave the Clarets an early lead but Wayne Thomas was dismissed to put the hosts on the back foot, with Grzegorz Rasiak levelling.

Andy Gray edged Burnley back ahead but the Saints grabbed victory with second-half strikes from Rudi Skacel and Rasiak.

Clinton Morrison scored the only goal of the game against Coventry at Selhurst Park to put Crystal Palace in the top six. David McNamee was dismissed for the visitors.

Among the other promotion-chasing teams Wolves defeated Stoke 2-0 at Molineux courtesy of goals from Leon Clarke and Seyi George Olofinjana in each half, while Clint Hill received a red card for the visitors.

Luton led twice but could only manage a 2-2 draw with West Brom, with Rowan Vine's double cancelled out on each occasion by Darren Carter and Zoltan Gera.

At the other end of the table, QPR hauled themselves off the bottom with a 2-0 win over Hull at Loftus Road.

Ray Jones opened the scoring after an hour before attacking partner Dexter Blackstock doubled the advantage 20 minutes later.

Derby staged a late fightback to defeat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Hillsborough, with Paul Peschisolido and Steve Howard grabbing the important goals after Chris Brunt had given the hosts the lead.

Plymouth earned a 3-1 win over Norwich at Home Park, their goals coming from Gary Doherty putting through his own net, Marcel Seip and David Norris. Robert Earnshaw pulled a late goal back.
