LISBON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - A controversial goal give Pacos Ferreira a shock 1-0 win at Sporting in the Portuguese Premier League on Saturday.
Three days after opening their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan, the Lisbon team suffered their first league defeat of the season.
Sporting players claimed that Ferreira's Brazilian striker Ronny touched the ball into the net with his left hand on the stroke of halftime.
The protests from Sporting players, including captain Ricardo Pereira who was playing his 100th match for club, were ignored by refereee Joao Ferreira.
Ferreira's Brazilian keeper Pecanha made a string of good saves to keep out Sporting in the second half.
