Two more Bundesliga teams out of German Cup

BERLIN, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Bundesliga sides Mainz and Arminia Bielefeld crashed out in the first round of the German Cup on Sunday, both losing to teams from the third division.

Mainz lost 1-0 away to Saarbruecken, who went through thanks to a Charles Haffner goal shortly before halftime.

A late goal by Bielefeld was not enough to stop them going down 2-1 away to SC Pfullendorf.

The two teams join a Bundesliga casualty list already featuring Werder Bremen, Hamburg SV and Energie Cottbus, who all lost on Saturday.

By contrast, Alemannia Aachen were never troubled by third division Chemnitzer FC. The Bundesliga team scored twice early on, and held on comfortably for a 2-0 victory.

Hertha Berlin laboured away to third division Darmstadt. The underdogs held the Bundesliga side until Yildiray Bastuerk's extra time strike in the 109th minute gave Hertha a 1-0 victory.

Earlier, unfancied Bremerhaven gave VfL Wolfsburg a scare before succumbing late on to the Bundesliga team.

With the game seemingly headed for extra time, two goals from Wolfsburg's Diego Klimowicz broke the deadlock in the last five minutes to see off the regional side 3-1.
