Premier Showdown - Aug 26-28

The Rest of the World sent out a statement of intent in midweek as John Flanigan brought the team level at the top with Dale Johnson, and he did it in style with an 11-point haul from eight games.

But Tommy Smyth's still furious after the Soccernet calculator had a bit of a blip and wrongly handed him an opening weekend victory - Dale thanks all those readers who filled our mailbox to point out the mistake!

Gazing into the crystal ball with our experts this week is Scott Betsinger.

Scott is 37 and has supported Man Utd since seeing them lose the "Charity Shield" against Everton in 1985. 'Their passing and fans were brillant that day,' he said. 'Even though they lost.'

Our challenger teaches in a high school and works as the Director of Coaching for FC America boys in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Game on!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, will get the chance to challenge our two experts. They, along with the challenger, will cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Soccernet's Premiership Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the challenge from our team.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline

  • One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit will receive three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total will be added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points will be shared between those level on points.

The Rest of the World team won the crown back from Dale last season, the final standings being as follows:
    Rest of the World: 46.5
    Dale: 39
    Tommy: 28.5
