Senna signs three-year Villarreal extension

Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna has agreed a three-year contract extension with the club.

The Brazilian-born Spain international was linked with a move to Manchester United this summer but the 30-year-old has now decided to commit himself to Villarreal.

A statement on the Villarreal website read: 'Villarreal have reached an agreement to renew Marcos Senna's contract for the next three seasons.

'The footballer, whose contract with the club finishes on June 30, 2007, will stay until June 2010.'

Villarreal president Fernando Roig was delighted with Senna's decision to pen a new deal.

'It was always the intention of the technical staff and the president to keep Marcos with us,' Roig told Marca.

'I believe that it is good news for us all that he remains with the club for three more seasons.'
