Shefki Kuqi insists Crystal Palace are better-equipped for promotion than the Ipswich side who came so close two seasons ago.
Kuqi, who joined Palace from Blackburn last week for a fee that could rise to £2.5million, was part of the Ipswich team that missed out on automatic promotion to the Premiership by two points in the 2004/05 campaign.
But the Finland striker, 29, claims Palace have a stronger group of players now than the Tractor Boys did then.
He said: 'The squad here now is as strong a squad as there is in the Championship.
'At Ipswich, we had quite a small squad but there was a lot of togetherness within it - but I think this Palace one is a better squad.
'We have made a good start - we are in the top three after five games - and I'm confident that we will be playing in the Premiership next season.'
