Santos have signed Brazil international Ze Roberto.
The 32-year-old left Bayern Munich at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract.
He rejected a move to Russian club Zenit St Petersburg and reportedly came close to signing for Bordeaux of France.
Ze Roberto was also linked with a move to Sao Paulo, but Santos are understood to have increased their offer at the last minute.
Santos are second in the Brazilian championship midway through the season and will be hoping Ze Roberto's influence can push them top.
The midfielder, who failed to impress at this summer's World Cup, has not played in Brazil since 1998.
He has plied his trade in the Bundesliga for the last eight years, first for Bayer Leverkusen and then, from 2002, for Bayern Munich.
