Transfer Rater: De Bruyne to Real Madrid

By ESPN Staff

Leagues: Leeds' Derry may need surgery

Leeds midfielder Shaun Derry may be forced to have surgery after carrying a hernia problem through the 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

The 28-year-old sustained the injury in the game with Crystal Palace on August 13 and has played through the pain barrier since.

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed Tony Warner will be returning to Fulham at the end of his one-month loan deal.

Preston boss Paul Simpson has taken on two trialists in a bid to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Mali international striker George Ba, 27, from French Ligue 1 side Troyes, has previously had spells at Montpellier and Le Mans.

Simpson is also running the rule over Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Richard Knopper.

Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam insists no new signings will be made unless some existing squad members are moved out of the club.

With the closure of the transfer window imminent, some of Bluebirds faithful are hoping to see the club bring in fresh faces to consolidate the team's status as Coca-Cola Championship leaders.

But Hammam said: 'Players still need to be moved out to release the purse-strings for fresh faces and I stress again, the club will not go over its £4 million-a-year wage bill.'

Stoke manager Tony Pulis has revealed that Sammy Bangoura still has a long way to go before he will feature in the first team.

The 24-year-old Guinea striker went awol during the summer and failed to report for pre-season training.

He returned at the beginning of August citing family reasons for his absence, but Pulis is not prepared to put him in the starting XI out of respect for the other players.

'Even if he was fit enough, to put him straight back into the first team without playing in the reserves first wouldn't have been fair on the other lads,' Pulis told The Sentinel.

Coventry manager Micky Adams has confirmed that Moroccan Faysal El-Idrissi has been released by the club following the arrival of Kevin Kyle - just a month after arriving at the Ricoh Arena.

Swansea winger Kevin McLeod insists Colchester are not the only Championship club courting his services.

The former Everton trainee admits he is likely to leave the Liberty Stadium before Thursday's transfer deadline after Kenny Jackett told him he was free to leave.

Colchester appears to be his likely destination, but McLeod said: 'There's definitely interest there other than Colchester and something should happen before Thursday.'

Bristol Rovers have warned Nottingham Forest that a loan deal involving Junior Agogo is 'out of the question'.

The League One leaders are keen to land the Ghana international after having a bid for the striker rejected earlier this month.

Local reports have suggested Forest could request Agogo on a temporary basis, with the clubs yet to reach an agreement on a deal and Thursday's transfer deadline drawing ever closer.

A Rovers spokesman said: 'Firstly, contrary to some reports, Junior Agogo is still our player because we have still not agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest. Secondly, he will certainly not be going anywhere on loan.'

Port Vale boss Martin Foyle has completed the capture of QPR striker Stefan Moore on a month's loan.

The Valiants also have the option of signing the 22-year-old former Aston Villa player on a permanent deal when his loan expires.

Foyle told the club's official website: 'He is Championship material and it's a great coup for the club and I know there have been one or two others sniffing around him.'
