Uruguayan midfielder Omar Pouso could soon seal a loan move to Charlton after his current club revealed he had flown to England to discuss terms.
Pouso, who scored in a friendly against England back in March, is poised to leave Penarol and complete a season-long switch to the south London club.
'Mr Pouso has flown to England,' said Penarol president Jose Pedro Damiani.
'We have to send the transfer papers and this is painful for us.
'Pouso explained to us that they (Charlton) offered an attractive amount of money and we won't forbid him a step forward in his career.
'Pouso treated Penarol very well, but this transfer will affect the team. Apart from this, we have signed strikers who are not scoring goals.'
