Aston Villa have reached agreement with Levante for the sale of French midfielder Mathieu Berson, according to the Spanish side.
The 26-year-old has joined the Primera Liga club on a three-year deal.
Berson signed for Villa in a protracted deal from Nantes in the summer of 2004, and had to wait until December that year to make his league debut against Liverpool.
He spent the whole of last season on loan with French side Auxerre.
The Primera Liga newcomers also unveiled Brazilian defender Ze Maria on Wednesday after the 33-year-old completed a move from Inter Milan.
Levante, who returned to the top flight after finishing third in the second division last season, said the player had signed a one-year contract with an option to extend the deal for a further 12 months.
Ze Maria is a Brazil international and was part of the side that won the Copa America in 1997 and the Confederations Cup in 2001.
