Lahm goals seals win for Bayern over Bochum

BERLIN, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Roy Makaay and Philipp Lahm earned below-par Bayern Munich a 2-1 win at promoted Bochum on Sunday, giving the Bundesliga champions a share of the early lead with a maximum six points from two matches.

Makaay put the champions ahead two minutes before the break but Bochum equalised in the 52nd minute when Brazilian Fabio Junior slipped the ball past Oliver Kahn from 10 metres.

The goal stung Bayern into their best football of the game and Lahm drilled in the winner from the left side of the area with 25 minutes to go.

'Bayern were no better than us - just cleverer,' said Bochum coach Marcel Koller. 'They punished our two mistakes brutally.'

The result saw Bayern join Nuremberg and Werder Bremen as the only sides with six points from two games.

Nuremberg beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0 on Friday and lead the league on goal difference. Werder Bremen, runners-up behind Bayern last season, won 2-1 at home to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

In Sunday's other game, VfB Stuttgart won 3-2 at Arminia Bielefeld despite finishing the game with nine men. Cacau got the winner with a right-foot screamer in the 82nd minute, his second goal of a frantic game. MISSING MIDFIELDER Bayern coach Felix Magath left Owen Hargreaves out of his starting lineup at the end of a week in which the club told him in no uncertain terms he would not be allowed to join Manchester United. Bayern's play suffered as a result of the in-form midfielder's absence and they only threatened occasionally in the first half. They took the lead with their one attack of real quality, when Hasan Salihamidzic made himself space and slid a perfectly judged pass through the defence for Makaay to slot in. Bochum equalised with a similar move. Zvjezdan Misimovic showed good vision to beat Daniel van Buyten outside the area and pass for Fabio Junior to beat Oliver Kahn with a neat finish. Bayern almost went back ahead when Andreas Ottl forced a good save with a stinging drive from the left. They had a number of other good opportunities before Lahm collected a Willy Sagnol cross and struck from deep on the left.
