BARCELONA, Spain -- Ludovic Giuly scored in the 43rd minute Thursday night, giving Barcelona a 1-0 victory over crosstown rival Espanyol in the first leg of the Spanish Supercup.
Four people were slightly hurt after a group of Barcelona fans threw stones and attacked passers-by close to Olympic Stadium before the game, Spanish national radio said. Police made 10 arrests.
Giuly was unmarked when he received a pass from Ronaldinho and beat goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz. The second leg of the total-goals matchup will be played Sunday. The Spanish League season opens the following weekend.
