Ching has knee surgery, expected out four weeks
HOUSTON -- Houston Dynamo leading scorer Brian Ching was recovering Wednesday after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee.
The 45-minute procedure, performed by team doctor David Lintner, was to treat a lateral meniscal tear in his right knee.
"We did not encounter any problems," Lintner said in a statement. "We are optimistic, and feel that Brian should have a rapid recovery."
Team officials have been aware of the problem since Aug. 5. They said he injured the knee in the All-Star game. An MRI last week confirmed the injury, but Ching went on to play twice last week.
Ching, who has 10 goals, is expected to miss about four weeks.
