Bayern defender Ismael facing six months out
BERLIN, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich centre back Valerien Ismael will be out for at least six months after breaking a shin bone in training, the German champions said on Wednesday.
Ismael suffered the injury to his left leg during a five-a-side match on Tuesday evening.
'The players nearby immediately said they heard a crack,' Bayern coach Felix Magath told the club's Web site.
Ismael, the 30-year-old French defender, was a regular for Bayern last season but the Bavarians are fortunate to now have a ready made replacement in the Belgian Daniel Van Buyten, signed from Hamburg SV in the close season.
Bayern began the defence of their Bundesliga title with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund last week. Their second game is away to Bochum on Sunday.
