MADRID, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Brazilian midfielder Jonatas will sign a four-year deal with Espanyol after the Primera Liga club agreed to buy the player out of his contract with Copa Brail winners Flamengo.
Espanyol said on Wednesday the three parties had reached an agreement which would be signed and sealed once the player passed a medical with the Barcelona-based club.
Spanish media reported that Espanyol paid around 2 million euros to buy the 24-year-old out of his contract with the Brazilian club.
Jonatas was one of a number of uncapped players who were called up into the national squad by Brazil's new coach Dunga for his first match in charge against Norway on August 16.
Espanyol narrowly avoided relegation from the Primera Liga last season but will be playing in the UEFA Cup after beating Real Zaragoza in the final of the Copa del Rey.
