Jewell demands full value for Chimbonda

Wigan manager Paul Jewell is digging in his heels and demanding £6million for unsettled defender Pascal Chimbonda.

Jewell confirmed he had rejected a renewed offer from Tottenham, who offered cash plus a couple of players.

Chimbonda is back training with the club after handing in a transfer request following the final game of last season.

Jewell is still angered at the way the Frenchman has conducted himself.

'Pascal has come back and his agent was in my office when I spoke with Spurs and said we wanted the full £6million for Chimbonda, ' he told the Manchester Evening News.

'Spurs offered a couple of players. We could not reach a deal and if we do not get the full amount the player stays where he is.

'We still think it is a very fair valuation.

'Don't forget not many clubs were keen to take a chance on him this time last year.'

Meanwhile, Emmerson Boyce is set to seal a move to Wigan.

The 27-year-old full-back is due to arrive from Crystal Palace for a fee believed to be around £1.5million.

It is understood Boyce has secured a four-year deal at the JJB Stadium.

Boyce would appear to be a ready-made replacement for Chimbonda.
