Dinamo Bucharest want Israel trip switched

BUCHAREST, July 31 (Reuters) - Dinamo Bucharest want UEFA to switch their UEFA Cup tie at Beitar Jerusalem to a neutral venue because of the security situation in Israel.

The Romanians are due to travel to face Beitar in the second leg of the second qualifying round on August 24.

Security fears have increased in the Jewish state as a result of the conflict between Israel and Hizbollah which began earlier this month.

'We'll ask UEFA soon to move Dinamo Bucharest's match against Beitar out of Israel,' Dinamo president Nicolae Badea told Reuters on Monday.

'Beitar is the strongest team we could meet at this level of the UEFA Cup so we cannot risk that our players think about war rather than playing soccer,' Badea said.

European soccer's governing body has written to the Israeli FA asking them to provide added safety assurances for clubs due to visit the country to face local opponents in European competitions.
