Portsmouth have signed former Liverpool and Blackburn midfielder David Thompson on a year-long deal.
The former England Under-21 international was released by Wigan at the end of last season after joining from Blackburn in the January transfer window and scored two goals in seven starts.
The 28-year-old becomes manager Harry Redknapp's second signing after Glen Johnson joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The contract renewals are another boost for the south coast club having signed midfielder David Thompson on a one-year contract earlier today.
