Jol warns Premiership: Defoe is on fire
Tottenham boss Martin Jol has warned the Premiership that Jermain Defoe is hungry for goals.
Defoe struck twice as Spurs completed their pre-season tour to France with a 2-0 victory over Spanish side Celta Vigo, taking his tally for the trip to three in three games.
Jol believes the 23-year-old, who has been linked with summer moves to Liverpool and Manchester United, is already firing on all cylinders.
'Jermain's a poacher and he only started with us last Monday,' Jol told the club's official website.
'Everybody knows Jermain - he loves to play football, he wants to score goals and he's come back to us in good form.'
Republic of Ireland skipper Robbie Keane played for 70 minutes in his first outing of pre-season after recovering from a neck injury sustained in training.
'Robbie's had a problem with his neck but he wanted to play. That's Robbie,' said Jol.
'I think Celta Vigo saw he wanted to have a good test and they certainly gave it to him in the first half.'
