West Brom have rejected a £1million bid from Cardiff for absent midfielder Jason Koumas.
Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace revealed the offer was well below an acceptable price for the Wales international, who spent last season on loan with the Bluebirds.
Peace claimed Cardiff had offered £1million plus a further £1million in add-ons, which were 'heavily dependent on the south Wales club winning promotion to the Premiership and staying up for two successive seasons'.
Peace said: 'Cardiff's cash offer falls well below our valuation of Jason and has been immediately rejected.'
He had earlier said: 'Cardiff have known for a year what offer we would accept for Jason but have yet to match our asking price and, unless they do, Jason won't be joining them.'
Koumas has incurred the wrath of Baggies manager Bryan Robson after so far failing to turn up for training and, as a result, is facing two disciplinary punishments.
