Friendlies: King stars as Tottenham beat Nice

Ledley King played 72 minutes in Tottenham's 1-0 win over Nice in his first appearances since breaking a metatarsal in April.

The England international - who missed the World Cup because of the injury - started the match and only gave way to Danny Murphy with the game all but won following Lee Barnard's first-half strike.

The 21-year-old Barnard struck in the 43rd minute after getting on the end of Jamie O'Hara's deflected cross as Tottenham won the second match of their French tour following last night's 2-1 defeat of Bordeaux.

Marton Fulop, in goal for Tottenham, made some good saves with the match still goalless but it was still an encouraging performance for Martin Jol's side with Jermain Defoe again looking sharp.

Leroy Lita scored four goals for Reading as they hammered Didcot Town 9-1 while there were two goals for Shane Long as Seol Ki-Hyeon made his debut for the Royals.
