Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores has refused to scrap plans to sign Cristiano Ronaldo despite Manchester United's continued determination to fend off his suitors.
The Old Trafford club issued a statement on Thursday insisting they 'will not listen to any offers' after the Portugal international had been linked with a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
But Sanchez Flores, who is poised to complete the signing Chelsea full-back Asier Del Horno, still harbours hopes of luring the 21-year-old winger to the Mestalla.
'His arrival would bring great happiness to everyone,' said Sanchez Flores.
'He is a very young player that is capable of doing important things. There should be more players with his quality in the market.'
Valencia, who finished third in the Primera Liga last season, should formally announce the arrival of Del Horno after the Spain international struggled to command a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge.
Sanchez Flores added: 'Asier is a good player.
'(Valencia sporting director Amedeo) Carboni already confirmed the possibility of his arrival and I believe he is the right man to cover that left-back role.'
