United want my goalkeeper, admits Robson

West Brom manager Bryan Robson has denied speculation that goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak could be on his way to Manchester United but admits the Red Devils are interested in the Poland international.

Robson and Albion chairman Jeremy Peace are determined to keep their squad intact following relegation from the Premiership at the end of last season.

And the Baggies boss insisted reports Kuszczak had been granted permission to speak to United were well wide of the mark.

Robson said: 'There's an interest but that's as far as it's gone and as for people saying there have been offers made, well that's just not the case.

'Manchester United do have an interest but that's as far as it's gone.

'If they make us a big offer then we would have to balance it up.

'We'd have to look and see whether it would be a good move for the club, whether the package is right and whether Tomasz Kuszczak wants to move to Manchester United.

'But before we do that, Manchester United would have to make an offer which would be acceptable to us.'

Meanwhile, Kuszczak has been granted an extra week's summer holiday following his World Cup finals duty with Poland.

Most of the Baggies squad reported for pre-season training yesterday, but Japan's Junichi Inamoto and Kuszczak will rejoin the Baggies next week.

Close-season signing John Hartson missed the beginning of pre-season too, due to a personal commitment, while midfielder Jason Koumas is recovering from dental operations.

Both Welshman are expected to report next week though.
