Ukraine officials relax foreigner limit for Super Cup
KIEV, July 6 (Reuters) - Officials have relaxed the limit of eight foreign players per side for this month's Super Cup between Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kiev, Ukraine's Professional Soccer League said on Thursday.
Premier League champions Shakhtar and Cup winners Kiev had told officials that Ukraine's players needed a rest after the national team reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Germany.
The Super Cup will take place in the southern city of Odessa on July 16.
Shakhtar and Kiev are also involved in the forthcoming qualifying matches for the Champions League.
Ukrainian officials have been debating proposals to place tougher restrictions on the number of foreign players allowed per team but no changes are planned for the new league season.
Kiev won the inaugural Super Cup in 2004 and Shakhtar emerged triumphant last year.
