Jamaican FA chief denies Eriksson rumours
Jamaica Football Federation president Crenston Boxhill has denied the Reggae Boyz are looking to appoint Sven-Goran Eriksson as their new coach.
Newspaper reports today suggested the outgoing England boss was at the top of a shortlist of big-name candidates.
But Boxhill insisted he was unaware of any plans to discuss the position previously held by Wendell Downswell with the Swede.
He told the Jamaica Observer: 'I don't know anything about the story. I am hearing that for the first time. In fact, it is major news.'
Boxhill did confirm, however, that the JFF had held talks with Jamaican-born former England international John Barnes.
'It is no secret that we have been talking to a couple of people, including John Barnes,' he added. 'But we are still putting together a shortlist.'
The report stated Eriksson was joined on the shortlist by Brazil's Carlos Alberto Parreira, Germany's Jurgen Klinsmann, Portugal's Luiz Felipe Scolari and former England manager Glenn Hoddle.
