Paris Saint-Germain to make Adrien Rabiot final contract offer after Red Star Belgrade game - source

Paris Saint-Germain will make a final push to secure midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a long-term contract after Tuesday's crucial Champions League game at Red Star Belgrade, a source has told ESPN FC.

Rabiot has yet to agree a new contract, with the 23-year-old's existing deal expiring at the end of the season.

His situation is linked to the outcome of PSG's Champions League group campaign, in which a win against Red Star would secure a place in the knockout stages.

However, the source said PSG had already been trying to re-start negotiations, with Barcelona, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool all interested in Rabiot.

Coach Thomas Tuchel has told the player he will not be a key figure in his plans plans unless he is committed to the club. Another source said Tuchel's unwillingness to count on Rabiot at the moment had created friction.

Failure to agree a new deal could see Rabiot sold in January, the source said, with the midfielder having been jeered by PSG fans on a number of recent occasions as he keeps the club waiting.

However, chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who maintains good relations with Rabiot, remains convinced of his value and will handle contract talks after the match in Belgrade.

Al-Khelaifi has become involved after sporting director Antero Henrique's relationship with Rabiot deteriorated during early negotiations in which an annual salary of at least €10 million and a significant signing on fee were demanded.

Rabiot's uncertain future is partly behind Henrqiue's meeting with Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong's agent, despite uncertainty over whether PSG could do a deal that would not violate financial fair play regulations.

Meanwhile, France coach Didier Deschamps told beIN Sports he would not rule out an international recall for Rabiot, saying: "I will not close the door.

"However, I feel like I am being asked that as if Adrien has played well for France when called upon. He has not played to the best of his abilities when he has been with us.

"There is also strong competition in his position, and others have performed well when selected."
