Hamburg SV agree van Buyten transfer deal
HAMBURG, June 9 (Reuters) - Hamburg SV have agreed to transfer Belgium defender Daniel van Buyten to Bayern Munich, the defending champions said on Friday.
There were no details about the transfer fee but media reports said Hamburg will receive just under €10 million for the 28-year-old defender, which would be the highest transfer fee in HSV history.
The previous record was 17.5 million marks (8.5 million euros) that HSV got from Lazio Rome in 1991 for Thomas Doll, who is now HSV's coach.
Van Buyten was one of the anchors of Hamburg's defence last season, helping the team rise to third place. Hamburg were the only Bundesliga side to beat Munich twice last season.
Bayern have already announced a transfer deal for Germany striker Lukas Podolski, who will move from Cologne for an estimated 10 million euro transfer fee.
