Fernandez takes over Auxerre hot-seat
PARIS, May 29 (Reuters) - AJ Auxerre have named Jean Fernandez as their new coach on a three-year contract, the Ligue 1 side announced on Monday.
Former Olympique Marseille coach Fernandez, 51, will take over from Jacques Santini who was sacked 10 days ago.
Fernandez helped Marseille finish fifth last season and also reached the French Cup final where they lost 2-1 to arch-rivals Paris St Germain.
'We are satisfied we have reached an agreement with someone we know well,' Auxerre chairman said on the club's website. 'We know his qualities as a high level coach.'
Auxerre finished sixth in Ligue 1 in the season just ended.
