Lippi confident Totti will pass the fitness test

Marcello Lippi is confident playmaker Francesco Totti will be fit for the World Cup.

Lippi, speaking at the Coverciano training camp in Florence, is pinning his hopes on a full recovery from 29-year-old Totti who managed a couple of appearances for club side Roma at the end of the season three months after breaking a bone in his foot.

'He (Totti) is improving,' said Lippi.

'He is following a different work programme which helps him to get back some aspects of his game - stopping, changing direction and hitting the ball with his injured foot.

'He is getting more confident.'
