Cani becomes Villarreal's third new face
MADRID, May 26 (Reuters) - Villarreal have bought Real Zaragoza midfielder Cani out of his contract and signed him on a five-year deal, the Primera Liga club said on Friday.
They are reported to have paid around 11 million euros ($14 million).
The 24-year-old, who was close to making the Spain squad for the World Cup finals, becomes Villarreal's third signing since the end of the season.
The modest-Mediterranean outfit have already secured the services of Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci and French midfielder Robert Pires, who were both out of contract.
Villarreal lost to Arsenal in the Champions League semi-finals last month and finished seventh in the Primera Liga to earn a place in the Intertoto Cup.
