Rui Costa set to end Milan association
LISBON, May 23 (Reuters) - Portuguese playmaker Rui Costa is in talks with AC Milan to rescind his contract, he told journalists upon arrival at Lisbon airport on Tuesday.
'I am still tied,' Rui Costa said. 'For now nothing is agreed. The conversations with the Italians are ongoing.'
Rui Costa, who retired from international football after Euro 2004, joined AC Milan in 2001 from Fiorentina.
Media reports say the 34-year-old is set to return to Benfica, the club where he started his career as a nine-year-old.
'I feel happy with the possibility of returning,' he said. 'But it is still no more than a possibility, and until it is a done thing it would be stupid of me to feed an ambition I have had for 12 years.'
Rui Costa left Portugal in 1994 to join Fiorentina.
