Wigan still waiting for improved Chimbonda offers
Wigan are still waiting for Tottenham to make another improved bid for defender Pascal Chimbonda.
Spurs have so far had two offers of £2million and £3million rejected for the French right-back, with the latter figure only half the Latics' valuation of the former Bastia player.
The £6million sum was slapped on Chimbonda after he stunned the Lancashire outfit by handing in a transfer request while still in his kit, after a 4-2 defeat at Arsenal on the final day of the Barclays Premiership season
After being named in the Professional Footballers' Association team of the season, Wigan's evaluation of the player was further justified when he was called up into the France World Cup squad.
Spurs manager Martin Jol is expected to maintain his pursuit of the 27-year-old, although as yet, Latics officials have yet to hear from their White Hart Lane counterparts.
Henri Camara is also a reported target of Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp. The two worked together at Southampton and the Pompey boss is keen to re-sign the striker.
However, chairman Dave Whelan has had no contact with Pompey counterpart Milan Mandaric regarding the Senegal international, who manager Paul Jewell has no intention of letting go.
Jewell, who is chasing Chelsea's Germany centre-back Robert Huth, confirmed: 'Henri is a big part of our plans.'
