Sweden to 'take it easy' with tired Freddie

Sweden team doctor Anders Valentin insists the coaching staff will 'take it easy' with Freddie Ljungberg when he reports for pre-World Cup training on Sunday.

The tenacious Arsenal midfielder had requested some time off in order to rest a persistent foot injury but, although he will still have to link up with his Swedish team-mates, Valentin has assured the 29-year-old he will not be overworked.

'He will show up (to the training camp), but since he has had a tough schedule, we will probably take it easy with him,' Valentin told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

'There is no reason to rush anything.'

Valentine believes Ljungberg's performance in Wednesday night's Champions League final defeat to Barcelona showed he is ready for the World Cup.

'He fought well against Barcelona, so there should not be any worries,' he added.
