Lahm back with Germany squad at the weekend
CAGLIARI, Italy, May 18 (Reuters) - Injured defender Philipp Lahm should be able join his Germany team mates in Sardinia on Saturday, the German Football Federation said on Thursday.
Lahm, the first-choice left-back for the World Cup hosts, had surgery on an elbow injury on Wednesday and the DFB had originally said he would skip the Sardinia camp entirely.
The 22-year-old expects to be fit enough to travel, however, and will spend one night on the Italian island before flying off with his team mates to their second pre-World Cup camp in Geneva from May 21 to 30.
Lahm's injury, suffered in a practice match on Tuesday, means he will not resume full training until the end of the month.
