Galasek turns down Ajax for move to Bundesliga

PRAGUE, May 18 (Reuters) - Czech defensive midfielder Tomas Galasek has signed a two-year deal with the Bundesliga's Nuremberg, leaving Ajax Amsterdam on a free transfer, the CTK news agency reported on Thursday.

Galasek, 33, was offered a new contract by Ajax but turned the offer down.

The Czech captain took over the defensive midfield duties from Radek Bejbl after Euro 2000 and has established himself as indispensible since then.

Galasek is preparing for the World Cup finals in Germany which start on June 9.
