Fulham hoping to build on Bullard capture

Fulham manager Chris Coleman believes the signing of Wigan midfielder Jimmy Bullard is a signal to the rest of the Premiership of their future intentions.

Bullard, 27, has now officially joined the Cottagers but Coleman does not expect his arrival to be the last.

'I really am delighted to have got Jimmy so early on in this transfer window,' said the former Wales international.

'It sends out a very positive message about our ambitions for the future and the chairman (Mohamed Al Fayed) and the board were instrumental in getting this deal done very quickly to make sure we got him.

'I'm hopeful there will be a lot more business during this window and that that we will have a very productive summer to help us build and push on next season.'

Bullard, who agreed a four-year deal at the end of April, told the club's website, www.fulhamfc.com: 'I'm really happy to have joined Fulham and as the deal was done so quickly have already had the opportunity to train with the lads and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy my time here.

'I felt that the time was right for me to make a move again and to be able to be close to my family was really important to me. I'm really looking forward to the start of the new season.'
