Steve Coppell has signed a new deal with Premiership newboys Reading that will keep him at the club for next season.
The League Managers' Association `Manager of the Season' signed the contract before heading off for a deserved holiday after guiding the Royals to the Coca-Cola Championship top-spot with a record 106 points.
Coppell said: 'In my mind there was never any doubt that I'd sign another contract at Reading. It was never an issue for me, as I consistently said when asked about it.
'I know this club well and I understand and appreciate the desire of our chairman and everyone at Reading Football Club to do well next season.
'We are looking forward to the next challenge which is infinitely bigger than the last one.'
Chairman John Madejski added in a statement: 'We are delighted that Steve Coppell has agreed to extend his contract for the forthcoming season on terms commensurate with the Premiership.
'As I have said many times, getting the manager's signature on the contract was just a formality as we had long since agreed that he would be staying, but I am pleased that the small print has now been agreed.'
