Italy striker Vieri to undergo knee surgery
MONACO, May 8 (Reuters) - Italy and Monaco striker Christian Vieri is to undergo surgery on his left knee following an injury, the Ligue 1 club said on Monday.
Vieri will probably miss the World Cup finals because of the injury he suffered during a game against Paris St Germain on March 28.
"Given the evolution of the injury, Christian Vieri will undergo surgery in the coming days," Monaco said in a statement.
Vieri, who joined the principality team from AC Milan in January, has scored three goals in seven appearances.
A source close to the club told Reuters on Monday that the former Juventus and Inter Milan striker was to leave at the end of the season.
His contract is due to expire in June 2007.
