Pearce planning to ring the changes at City

Stuart Pearce is planning a serious overhaul of Manchester City in the summer in the hope of getting the club back on track.

City are looking to improve on a dreadful run of results when they face Blackburn at Ewood Park on Sunday.

Pearce has been left devastated after seeing his side lose eight of their last nine matches in all competitions.

The City boss said: 'Our results have been very poor, make no mistake about it.

'I am not hiding behind that fact and I have to do something about it this summer. That starts on the coaching field.

'Something we have to develop is to encourage the squad to become more hard-nosed. I will learn a great deal of lessons from this season.

'We need a touch of re-juggling with some new faces coming in.'

It has been a difficult debut season for Pearce but he took some positives from the defeat by Arsenal on Thursday - not least from being in the opposite dug-out to Arsene Wenger.

Pearce said: 'He is the role model for managers like me.

'He has a great squad. He has had time to model it during his 10 years in charge and bring in the players he needs.'

Midfielder Claudio Reyna admits they have under-achieved.

He said: 'We are definitely better than where we are in the league.

'There have been enough performances and good moments this season for us to know we are a capable side.

'But we have to work on our consistency. There is still a bit of a sense of what might have been.

'The run of bad results can happen to virtually any club in the league if you are not 100%.

'Where we have probably let ourselves down is by giving away cheap goals.'

Pearce could ring the changes at Ewood Park in the hope they can finish the campaign in style.

Sylvain Distin and Antoine Sibierski might come into contention after missing the defeat by Arsenal because of knocks.
