Wigan defender Leighton Baines insists he is willing to sign a new deal with the club rather than follow Jimmy Bullard out of the exit doors.
Bullard will officially join Fulham next Monday after agreeing to a shock £2.5million move on Friday due to a release clause activated in his contract.
Baines, who has a year remaining on his current deal, is looking to put pen to paper with the Latics again when negotiations start over the summer.
'The manager [Paul Jewell] is keen for me to sign, and I'm keen myself,' confirmed the left back to the Wigan Evening Post.
'After the Arsenal game this weekend, talks can begin and they can go as smoothly as possible.
'I hope it can all be done before we return for training in July because I want to stay at Wigan. I haven't thought about moving.
'The club has been great for me. I came through the youth team, and have played from the second division through to the Premiership.
'Fingers crossed, I can get this contract signed and keep my place in the team next season.'
