Struggling Santander turn to youthful Yosu
MADRID, April 24 (Reuters) - Relegation-threatened Racing Santander have promoted Nando Yosu to first team coach in place of Manuel Preciado who quit on Sunday after the Primera Liga club lost 3-1 at home to Getafe.
'I am convinced the team are able to save themselves,' Yosu was quoted as saying on the Marca website on Monday.
Yosu was a member of Preciado's coaching staff and has stepped in before in similar circumstances, saving the club from relegation only last season.
'This is the toughest situation I have been in because we have very little time left,' he added.
Racing president Manuel Huerta said Yosu and number two Jesus Merino were the 'ideal partnership'.
Sunday's defeat left Racing 16th in the table, one point above the relegation places with four games left to play.
