FA reject red card appeal of Everton's Carsley
The Football Association have rejected Lee Carsley's claim for wrongful dismissal following the Everton midfielder's red card against Chelsea.
The 32-year-old was sent off by referee Rob Styles for a challenge on Didier Drogba during the 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
He will now miss his team's last three matches of the season against Birmingham and West Brom at home, and Middlesbrough away.
An FA statement read: 'At a disciplinary commission hearing today, Everton's Lee Carsley had a claim for wrongful dismissal rejected.'
It continued: 'He will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect.'
Everton boss David Moyes was disappointed with a number of refereeing decision during the game, including the red card for Carsley.
'David felt the decision to send off Lee Carsley was unjustified and we fully support those sentiments,' said Everton chief executive Keith Wyness yesterday when appealing against the dismissal.
