Premier Showdown - Apr 17-19

The great form continues for Tommy Smyth, but at the weekend he found himself thwarted at the death by a correct scoreline by our challenger, Donald Freund, at Ewood Park.

That draw did mean that the ROTW pulled a full three points clear of Dale Johnson and are now clear favourites to wrestle back the crown they lost to our Premiership Editor 12 months ago.

Tommy's not mathematically out of the running but he needs to win the final four rounds to finish joint top.

Our challenger as Easter comes to an end is Daniella Moorjani.

Daniella, 15, is a student in Abuja, Nigeria. Her dad is Indian while her mom is half Italian and half Nigerian - quite a combination! She's planning to join the army in the future.

She tells us: 'I'm a very strong supporter of Liverpool FC. And I don't like Chelsea! I think your show is great and you guys should keep up the good work. And Tommy Smyth, you're the best!'

My word, we can't have Tommy getting a big head...

Game on!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, will get the chance to challenge our two experts. They, along with the challenger, will cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Soccernet's Premiership Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the challenge from our team.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline

  • One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit will receive three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total will be added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points will be shared between those level on points.

A victory for Birmingham City keeps Tommy's run going but that late Forssell strike means he has to share the spoils with Dale. This is going to go down to the wire...

    Overall score after 35 rounds:
    Rest of the World: 39
    Dale: 37.5
    Tommy: 28.5

You can tune in to ESPNSoccernet Press Pass every Friday to see the picks revealed, and the previous week's results analysed. They will also be displayed here at Soccernet.
