BERLIN, April 18 (Reuters) - VfB Stuttgart have extended the contract of coach Armin Veh to the end of the 2006-07 season even though he has won just three of his 10 matches in charge.
"This wasn't an easy decision for us, but we saw that we fit together nicely," said Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt.
There had been media speculation Stuttgart wanted to hire Mainz coach Juergen Klopp but he made clear he was not going to leave Mainz.
Veh was given a contract until the end of this season when he replaced sacked Giovanni Trapattoni on Feb. 10. Trapattoni broke his silence last week to lash out at his successor's modest record.
Stuttgart, in seventh place with eight wins and 16 draws in 30 matches, came from two goals down at halftime for a 3-3 draw at Hanover 96 on Sunday.
