NEW YORK -- The Mexican national soccer team will play its final tuneup match before the World Cup against Venezuela at the Rose Bowl on May 5.
The game, which will be played on Cinco de Mayo, is the sixth meeting between the teams. Mexico has won all five of the previous matchups, including a 2-1 victory in a friendly on July 5, 2000.
The match will be the Mexicans' eighth in the Rose Bowl. They played to a scoreless tie against South Korea in January 2002 during the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Mexico will face Iran in its opening match of the World Cup on June 11 in Germany.
