CARSON, Calif.-- Thiago De Souza, who has played professionally in his native Brazil and Germany, signed a contract Thursday to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Terms were not announced.
The 21-year-old forward trained with the defending Major League Soccer champions last month in Costa Rica.
"There is no question that he can make an impact in this league," Galaxy coach Steve Sampson said. "He is a young, smart and quick player who will continue to develop and improve."
De Souza, a 5-foot-6, 143-pounder, most recently played for BV Borussia Dortmund of the German Bundesliga after playing for Rio Branco and Corinthians in Brazil. He will occupy one of the team's two youth international roster slots.
De Souza is expected to report to the Galaxy next week after receiving a work visa. He becomes the fourth Brazilian on the team's roster.
