Blair not taking the rap for Wembley

Tony Blair has admitted he is glad he is not carrying the can for the beleaguered Wembley Stadium project.

The Prime Minister insisted it would be 'fantastic' when it was open and the 'troubles' would be forgotten.

Building company Multiplex has said 'full practical completion' of the rebuilt stadium would not be achieved until September but there then would be another two months of test events.

'I think everyone just wants it sorted out,' Mr Blair told LBC News.

'It will be a fantastic stadium when it's done and, believe me, once it is and is open, everyone will forget about the troubles leading up to it. 'But, fortunately, this is one project that I don't have to take responsibility for.'
